How it all began
It was therefore resolved that: “Late Shri Amritlal Dalpatbhai Sheth had provided invaluable and multifarious services to the people of Ranpur and the neighbouring areas through his active, significant and important contributions which were worthy of great appreciation. For this, the people of Ranpur and Saurashtra Karyalay were forever indebted to him. In due recognition of this, the hospital was dedicated to the late Shri Amritlal Dalpatbhai Sheth.”
In 1960, the hospital was registered under the Societies of registration act and thereafter under the Public Charitable Trust Act, thus initiating the charitable and philanthropic purposes for which the hospital was established.

The hospital was inaugurated on the 9th of October 1962, by the late Shri Dhebarbhai (He was an Indian Independence activist who served as the Chief Minister of Saurashtra State from 1948 to 1954 and the President of the Indian National Congress from 1955 to 1959.). On this occasion, Shri Dhebarbhai, in his speech, said that “It was the dawn of a new era". He specifically lauded the services and contributions of exemplary personalities like Amritlalbhai, Manibhai Kothari, Phoolchandbhai, Shri Manordas Panachand Parikh and Laljibhai Chhotalal Wadhwana and others who through their dedication had contributed their entire existence to the era gone by. These personalities swam against the tide and supported the people wholeheartedly by waging a war against poverty and other social evils. At a time when people needed a “Mantra “to fearlessly fight against tyranny, people needed not only one but many Amritlalbhais to be successful in their struggles. When the existence of the entire humanity was at stake, people needed leaders and mentors like Amritlalbhai to provide strength and to make them fearless.

After Dhebarbhai announced the hospital in Amritlal Sheth's name, his three sons namely Shri Manubhai Sheth, Shri Jitendra bhai Sheth and Shri Narendrabhai Sheth took the responsibility to run the hospital. Later it was Shri Jatinbhai Manubhai Sheth who looked after the smooth running of the hospital.
